World War IIDS Løvstad
The DS Løvstad served in Nortraship service during the war. On 28 April 1942, a fire broke out aboard the vessel while it was in the Mediterranean. When the Indian SS El Madina was torpedoed by a Japanese U-boat on 16 March 1944, Løvstad successfully rescued 814 people from the sinking. The ship was scrapped in 1959.
