World War IIDS Lysland
The DS Lysland was part of a convoy along the eastern coast of England when, on 14 October 1942, it was attacked by two fast German E-boats in Hearty Knoll Channel, off Cromer. A fire broke out on board during the attack, and the same day, Lysland was towed into Immingham. Three Norwegians lost their lives in the attack. Lysland was repaired and continued to serve, participating in the invasion of France in June 1944. The vessel made several trips between the United Kingdom and Omaha Beach. After the war, the ship was scrapped in 1960.
