World War IIDS Navarra
The DS Navarra was en route from Swansea to Oslo with a cargo of coal when it was torpedoed on 6 April 1940 by the German U-boat U-59, approximately 30 nautical miles northwest of Scotland. The vessel sank within two minutes. One of the lifeboats was fired upon and sunk by the U-boat.
Of the 26 crew members, 12 lost their lives. 14 men survived and were brought ashore in Scotland.
