World War IIDS Nordnorge
After being rebuilt at a shipyard in Fredrikstad, the SS Nordnorge was scheduled to be placed on the Trondheim–Narvik route. On 24 March 1944, while en route from Fredrikstad to Tromsø with cargo, the vessel was torpedoed and sunk by the British U-boat HMS Satyr northwest of Honningsvåg near Stad. The ship was struck by a torpedo and sank immediately. A fishing vessel in the vicinity reached the site half an hour later and rescued two survivors. Eleven of the thirteen crew members were lost in the sinking.
