World War IDS Obj
DS Obj was torpedoed on November 7, 1917, by the German U-boat U-46 northeast of Vardø. The ship was en route from Arkhangelsk to Halifax, N.S, with a cargo of potash. The entire crew of 24 persons (as per the maritime enquiry) and the Norwegian passenger Hjalmar Lied from Oslo perished in the shipwreck. (Sources: Sjøhistorie.no, maritime enquiry)
