World War IIDS Octavian
The DS Octavian was torpedoed on 17 January 1942 by the German U-boat U-123 off the coast of New Jersey, on the American East Coast. The entire crew perished in the torpedo attack. The exact location of the sinking was long uncertain, but in 2018, the final fate of the ship was clarified when the wreck was identified by divers. The vessel was en route from Galveston, USA, to St. John, N.S.
