World War IDS Odin

DS Odin was torpedoed on February 2, 1917, by the German U-boatU-53 northwest of Ushant. The ship was en route from Barry to Lisbon carrying coal. Two individuals perished in the shipwreck. The remaining crew members abandoned ship in two lifeboats. The wreck of Odin remained afloat for a while, allowing some of the crew to board it and retrieve dry clothes.
