World War IDS Reidar
DS Reidar was stopped and sunk by the German U-boat U-155 on March 17, 1918. The ship was en route from New York to Italy carrying wheat. The U-boat opened fire during the launching of the lifeboats before everyone had gotten on board. Four people lost their lives in the shipwreck, including Captain Knudsen, who later succumbed to his injuries. (Sources: Sjøhistorie.no and Med norsk skib i verdenskrigen)
