World War IIDS Ringulv
The SS Ringulv participated in the evacuation of Le Havre in June 1940 during the German attack, transporting over 1,500 people to Brest. The vessel continued under French charter to Casablanca on June 22, 1940. Ringulv served in French service with a French crew from 1941. In November 1942, the ship was taken over by German authorities and was later sunk on June 14, 1943, by the British submarine HMS United in the Mediterranean. Several of the Norwegian crew members fled in homemade rafts to Allied ports between 1940 and 1942.
