World War IIDS Røyksund
SS Røyksund was on a journey in convoy from Falmouth to the Bristol canal in ballast. On May 27th 1941 the ship was attacked by German aircraft between Trevose Head and Hartland Point. One of the bombs hit the machine room, and instantly killed three men and part of the ship blew up. The survivors was later saved by the escort. Three Norwegians and four Britons perished in the sinking.
