World War IDS Rutil

DS Rutil disappeared in September 1916 and sank in the North Sea, likely due to bad weather. The ship departed from Tyne on September 13, bound for Le Treport with a cargo of coal. The entire crew of 14 people perished in the disaster. A lifeboat from the ship was later found near Leith. The wreck of Rutil has been discovered and explored by divers in more recent times.
