World War IDS Sarpfos
DS Sarpfos was sunk by the German U-boat U-105 on February 23, 1918, south of the Calf of Man in the Irish Sea. The ship was en route from Swansea to Odda carrying coal and gas oil. Two people lost their lives in the shipwreck. Nineteen people in a lifeboat were later rescued by a British schooner and brought to Liverpool.
