World War IDS Sjøstad
DS Sjøstad was torpedoed by the German U-boat UC-65 on February 28, 1917, northwest of Cap Le Hêve. The ship was en route from Newport Mon. to Fecamp carrying coal. Nine people lost their lives in the shipwreck. Eight individuals were later rescued by French torpedo boats. (Sources: Sjøhistorie.no and Med norsk skib i verdenskrigen)
