World War IDS St. Sunniva
DS St. Sunniva was struck by a mine on June 2, 1917, by a mine laid by the German U-boat UC-72 off St. Jean de Luz. The ship was en route from Santander to Sunderland carrying iron ore. Four people lost their lives in the shipwreck. The survivors were later rescued by a French fishing vessel. (Sources: uboat.net and Med norsk skib i verdenskrigen)
