World War IIDS Standard
The DS Standard was torpedoed in Saltenfjorden on 14 October 1944 by the British U-boat HMS Viking. The vessel was en route from southern Norway to Narvik. A fire broke out on board, injuring several crew members, while others were killed in the attack. In total, 11 men and one woman lost their lives in the sinking.
