World War IIDS Strindheim
The DS Strindheim was blown up by a mine on 15 December 1939 off Tyne on the east coast of England. The vessel was en route from Hull to Trondheim with a cargo of iron. Of the 12 crew members, 10 lost their lives. The survivors were rescued and brought ashore by the Bergen-registered vessel Finse.
