World War IIDS Tres
The Norwegian DS Tres caught fire during a German air raid on 8 August 1940 in St. Helena Roads, England. The vessel drifted ashore, but the fire was extinguished and the ship was salvaged. One man, the cook, was seriously wounded in the attack and later died in hospital in Haston Gasport. The ship was repaired and later took part in the Allied landings in Normandy. It was broken up following a grounding off Gotland in 1962.
