World War IIDS Tromøsund
SS Tromøsund was taken over by a group of 13 Linge soldiers from Operation “Charhampton” while the ship was in Rekefjord. The vessel was on its regular route along the coast. The crew and passengers were overpowered, and the ship set sail towards the United Kingdom. The Germans quickly realized the ship had been captured, and German aircraft were sent to search for it. Tromøsund was spotted and, without further hesitation, was sunk by German aircraft on March 1, 1943. There were no survivors among the passengers and crew, around 40 people.
