World War IIDS Varild
The DS Varild was torpedoed on 24 January 1940 by the German U-boat U-23 in the North Sea. The vessel was en route from Horten to Sunderland in ballast and departed Horten on 22 January without any further trace. The entire crew of 15 perished in the sinking.
