World War IDS Vav
DS Vav was sunk on December 4th, 1917, by the German U-boat UB-80 near the Lizard, off Black Head. The ship was en route from Glasgow to Le Havre with a cargo of steel. Nineteen people lost their lives in the shipwreck. (Source: Sjøhistorie.no)
