World War IIDS Vela
The Norwegian DS Vela was carrying a cargo of tinplate from Bergen and fertilizer and zinc from Odda, bound for Gothenburg. On 20 September 1944, the vessel was torpedoed by the British submarine HMS Sceptre 11 nautical miles off Eigerøy Lighthouse. Three Norwegian crew members were lost in the sinking.
