World War IIDS Vistula

The Swedish DS Vistula was torpedoed on 8 October 1939 by the German U-boat U-37 approximately 40 nautical miles northeast of Shetland. The vessel was en route from Gothenburg to Hull carrying general cargo. Nine persons, including one Norwegian, lost their lives in the sinking, while nine persons were rescued.
