World War IIDT Ketty Brøvig
The Norwegian DT Ketty Brøvig was captured on 2 February 1941 by the German raider HSK Atlantis, disguised as the Tamesis of Tønsberg, in position 02°S 52°E, west of the Seychelles, while carrying a full cargo of oil. A German prize crew took control of the vessel. Four Norwegian officers were transferred to Atlantis, while five other Norwegian officers and 32 Chinese crew members remained on board Ketty Brøvig. The ship was for a time used as a supply vessel for Atlantis, the cruiser Admiral Scheer, and two other raiders operating in the area. On 4 March 1941, Ketty Brøvig and the German tanker Coburg were attacked by an Australian and a New Zealand cruiser. Ketty Brøvig and Coburg were both sunk in the attack. The Norwegian officers and the Chinese crew were landed in Mauritius on 8 March. One Norwegian from Ketty Brøvig later died while being held prisoner aboard the German vessel Tannenfels en route to France.
