World War IIMS Charente
The MS Charente was one of the Norwegian Kvarstad ships that had been interned in Sweden. On 31 March 1942, the vessel broke the blockade and set course for Britain. En route, it engaged in combat with German naval forces and was scuttled by its own crew. The crew was initially sent to an internment camp in Bremen and later transferred to the Sonnenburg prison.
