World War IIMV Gothia

The MV Gothia was torpedoed on 22 January 1940 by the German U-boat U-51 off the northwest coast of Scotland. The vessel was en route from Uddevalla, Sweden, to Genoa, carrying paper and sulphate. Twelve lives were lost, and eleven persons were rescued.
