World War IIMS Scebeli
MS Scebeli was en route in convoy from Liverpool to New York in ballast when the convoy was attacked by five U-boats. On April 21, 1943, Scebeli was torpedoed by the German U-boat U-191 at position 56°07’N and 44°26’W. One man was killed in the explosion, and another drowned as the crew abandoned ship. Thirty-nine men were picked up by an escort ship. The wreck remained afloat and was left as it was. Two men perished in the sinking.
