World War IIMS Snestad
The MS Snestad was torpedoed on 11 February 1940 by the German U-boat U-53 north of the Faroe Islands. The vessel was en route from Sandefjord to Philadelphia in ballast. After 22 hours adrift, 34 survivors were rescued by the Norwegian tanker Albert L. Ellsworth and brought to Bergen. The entire crew survived the sinking.
