World War IIMV Vancouver City

The MV Vancouver City was torpedoed on 14 September 1939 by the German U-boat U-28. The vessel was en route from Suva, Fiji, to the United Kingdom, carrying sugar. Three lives were lost, including one Norwegian, while thirty persons were rescued.
