The Norwegian MT Inger Johanne was requisitioned by the Germans in 1940 and registered under the name Nachschubtanker Norwegen Ingeborg. On 15 October 1944, while en route from Oslo to Kristiansand with a cargo of petrol, the tanker was bombed and set ablaze by Allied aircraft off Justøya near Lillesand, along with its German escort vessel. The entire Norwegian crew of 14 perished in the flames, along with a Norwegian stateless person and two Germans.
