MT Ranja disappeared without a trace at the 9th of March 1942, on a journey from Houston to UK via Halifax with a crew of 34 people. The ship was loaded with oil to maximum capacity. At a later date, German sources has revealed that U-71 torpedoed Ranja on 17th of March 1942 in position 39N, 65W.
