World War IIMT Sandar

The MT Sandar was torpedoed on 2 May 1942 by the German U-boat U-66 about 60 nautical miles off Trinidad. The oil cargo caught fire, and three men perished in the flames. The rest of the crew abandoned ship and were observed the next day by aircraft, which directed a rescue ship to their location.
