MT Solør var på reise i inngående konvoi i St. Georges Channel lastet med 11000 tonn bensin bestemt for Clyde. Den 27. januar 1945 ble skipet torpedert av den tyske ubåten U-825 ca 30 n. mil SW av Bardsey Island. Solør ble truffet i styrbord låring, og vann strømmet hurtig inn i maskinrommet. På grunn av brannfaren beordret kapteinen alle mann i båtene. Fartøyet holdt seg imidlertid flytende, og mannskapet ble satt om bord igjen neste dag. Solør ble tatt under slep og strandsatt i Oxwich Bay. Halve lasten og 17 fly som stod lagret på dekket ble losset før Solør brakk i to og ble oppgitt som vrak. Fire mann fra maskinrommet omkom i forliset.

MT Solør was on a journey in an ongoing convoy from St. Georges Channel, loaded with 11.000-ton gasoline, headed for Clyde. On the 27th of January 1945, the vessel was torpedoed by, presumably, a German U823 submarine 30 nautical miles SW of Bardsey Island. The vessel was stuck in the starboard, close to the amidships, and water streamed with haste into the machine room. Due to the fire hazard, the captain ordered all the men to the boats. The vessel kept itself afloat and the crew boarded the ship the very next day. Solør was dragged and beached in Oxwich Bay. Half of the cargo and 17 airplanes on the open deck was unloaded before the ship broke in half and was abandoned as a wreck. Four from the engine crew perished in the sinking.
