World War IISS Deptford

The British SS Deptford was torpedoed on 13 December 1939 by the German U-boat U-38 off Stad. The vessel was en route from Narvik to Middlesbrough carrying iron ore. Thirty-four lives were lost in the sinking, including two Norwegians, while five persons were rescued.
