World War IIST Gulfstate

The American ST Gulfstate was torpedoed on April 3, 1943, by the German U-boat U-155. The vessel was en route from Corpus Christi via Galveston to New York and Portland, Maine, with crude oil. Forty-three people lost their lives, and 18 were rescued.
