The American ST L.J. Drake was torpedoed on 5 June 1942 by the German U-boat U-68. The vessel was en route from Aruba to San Juan, Puerto Rico, carrying gasoline. L.J. Drake was struck by three torpedoes and exploded. The entire crew perished in the sinking.
