World War IIMV Yngaren
The Swedish MV Yngaren was torpedoed on 12 January 1942 by the German U-boat U-43. The vessel was en route from Bombay to Halifax carrying 4,696 tons of copra, 300 tons of manganese ore, 80 trucks, and 8 aircraft. Thirty-eight lives were lost in the sinking, while two persons were rescued.
