World War IIron barque Hermes
Iron barque Hermes was sunk on March 3, 1917, by the German U-boat U-80, off Utsira. The ship was en route from Savannah to Denmark, carrying a cargo of oil cakes. Twelve people lost their lives in the shipwreck. (Sources: Sjøhistorie.no og uboat.net)
