World War IIDS Breda
The Norwegian DS Breda was en route from Bremen to Bergen with a cargo of grain. The vessel was part of a convoy that came under attack by Allied aircraft in the Bay of Weser on 6 September 1944. Breda was struck by two aerial torpedoes, causing a violent explosion on board. The ship immediately broke in two amidships and sank. Eleven of the 18 Norwegian crew members were killed in the attack, along with the German pilot.
