World War IIDS Christiania
DS Christiania was damaged in a British air raid on February 21, 1941, near Egersund. During the major explosion accident on April 20, 1944, in Bergen, the ship sustained significant damage once again. The final wartime damage occurred on October 19, 1944, when the ship struck a magnetic mine in Åramsundet, Sunnmøre. These damages led to Christiania being laid up in Hjørundfjorden near Ålesund for the remainder of the war.
