World War IDS Elfi
DS Elfi was damaged in a mine explosion on March 3, 1917, by a mine from the German U-boat UC-41 but managed to stay afloat. On February 7, 1918, the ship was torpedoed and sunk by the German U-boat UC-17 off Sunderland. The ship was en route from Tyne to Rouen, carrying a cargo of coal.
