World War IDS Fane
DS Fane was struck by a mine on August 6, 1917, by a mine from the German U-boat UC-63, approximately 2.5 kilometers off Dowsing lightship. The ship was en route from Rouen to Sunderland in ballast (without cargo). Four people lost their lives in the shipwreck. (Source: Sjøhistorie.no)
