World War IIDS Norse King

SS Norse King was on a journey in convoy from Belfast to Boston carrying 5400 tons of coal. The convoy consisted of 45 ships and it was attacked by several uboats in a three-day long battle. 14 ships and a German uboat was sunk. On the 28th of December 1942, Norse King was torpedoed in the position 5145N, 2350W. It appeared that the ship could be saved, so the crew rowed back to the ship and boarded it again, started the engine and set sail for the Azores. Norse King were last seen in the position 4325N, 2718W and that was also the last time anyone heard from the ship. German sources cite that the ship was yet again torpedoed by the German uboat U-435 and afterwards shelled with artillery. The entire crew perished in the sinking.
