World War IIDS Senta
SS Senta was on a journey in convoy eastwards with destination for UK. The convoy consisted of 48 ships, and became the target for a three days long battle between destroyers, four Norwegian Corvettes and large group of German uboats which attacked the convoy. Senta was torpedoed by the German U-boat U-221 on the 13th of October 1942 in position 52N, 43W. This happened in rough seas under a snowstorm which reduced the visibility which made the rescue work difficult. 27 Norwegians, six Britons and two Swedes perished in the sinking.
