World War IIDT Marit
DT Marit was torpedoed on October 4, 1943, by the German U-boat U-596 in the Mediterranean Sea. The ship was en route from Alexandria to Tripoli with a cargo of oil. One Indian crew member perished in the sinking, and a British gunner succumbed to his injuries later at a hospital in Benghazi.
