World War IIMS Harboe Jensen
MV Harbo Jensen was on a journey from Alexandria to Benghazi with war materials. The ship was redirected to Tobruk during its voyage. Harbo Jensen had done several trips in this area and had been attacked several times by German aircrafts. This time the ship was torpedoed the 15th of January 1943 by the German uboat U-617 in position 3304N, 2150E. Harbo Jensen sunk rapidly. An armed trawler which had followed the ship started to rescue the crew, but they only found five Norwegians and a Brit. These five had jumped off ship and managed to straighten a lifeboat which had been flipped upside down. 18 people perished in the sinking.
