World War IIMS O.C.
The Norwegian MS O.C. was a well boat transporting live fish from Honningsvåg to Kristiansund. On 5 September 1941, the vessel was blown up by a mine near Terningen Lighthouse in the Trondheimsleia, inside Hitra. The Germans had laid mines in the area somewhat indiscriminately, yet they had also directed vessels to follow a course between Terningen and the Hitra mainland. Despite adhering to the instructed route, O.C. struck a mine and was destroyed. Five of the seven crew members were killed in the explosion.
