World War IIDS Fanefjeld
SS Fanefjeld was on a journey from Buldudal, Iceland, headed for Isafjord, Fanefjeld disappeared on the 9th of April 1942 without giving any signs of life. There were 18 Norwegians, a Briton, two Canadians and a Swede as crew, but also a pilot navigator and a passenger from Iceland. In Ørundafjord on the 10th of April 1942, was a life buoy marked with DS. Fanefjeld, along with a corpse, that could not be identified. After the the war it was known that the ship was torpedoed by the German uboat U-252.
