World War IDS Octo
DS Octo was struck by a mine on June 13, 1918, by a mine laid by the German U-boat UC-22 east of the island of Zemra near Tunis. The ship was en route from Licata, Sicily to Cette, carrying sulfur. The explosion caused the hull to break in two, resulting in the loss of 16 lives, while four people were later rescued by a French torpedo boat. (Source: Sjøhistorie.no)
